New to Klango, my thoughts so far

Hi, so I was eventually able to get this working after downloading Beta 6, and I think this has huge potential to succeed. It has features that Elten does not have, which some people have wanted for a while and hopefully it doesn't fall into the same trap that Elten did in terms of moderation and intermittent development. I also hope that this could be open source at some point, just like Elten, then people can contribute fixes and stuff. I know this has a long way to go before it reaches a stable state, but I do think that we need more than just one or two platforms like this, Elten was the only one for a while, then over the last year or so we got new things being worked on, and this is of course one of them, even though its a revival and not a totally new platform.

Agreed. I think it should be open sourced, since it's being maintained by new people unofficially anyway.

Exactly, if this doesn't get open sourced, then there's a risk of it possibly disappearing like the original Klango did, and we don't want that.

That'd be up to whoever's developing this. I imagine there's definitely an argument at least for open-source. Still, there's an argument against it as some of these programs were made by the original developers of Klango as well and they may not have wanted the preservation of those programs. Just looking at it from both sides here rather than agreeing blindly.

I'm still wondering how long this will last before simplito comes knocking on your door with a lawsuit but that's just me

@5 Sure, but the fact that it's being hosted already could get the current maintainer in to trouble as is. May as well go all the way me thinks.

I used Klsngo when it came out back in the late 2000;s. I thought it was cool back then, and can't wait to see where this one goes.

didn't the old developers of old klango state that there was no issue with klango making a come back?

the only thing though is that we need help files rather then press up/down arrow for indexing etc

Yep. I just made the blog. It has only one post but that's fine. Feel free to look, I don't think it's possable to add contributors, I don't see an option for that but that is fine.

I like the way this app works. It's a pretty easy interface to work with. I just feel that this needs a little more development and a lot of advertising if you want this app not to be only 20 people or so.

I'm enjoying this app again as well, after having enjoyed it emencely when it was out 10+ years ago and I ran it on my Windows Vista Machine. I didn't think I'd ever run such a thing again after getting a Mac, and most native/third-party apps I use running on it well enough to do whtat I needed to do with Voiceover, until I ran into an issue with a live365 radio station that now refuses to play on my Echo Dot, after having played really well for years, and the Live365 app and Voiceover on a Mac don't play nice whatsoever.
I then found out this app made a comeback via Someone's facebook post this morning, so decided to try it again this morning, so decided to give it a try, and while I haven't been able to play the station I'm looking for yet, I'm enjoying it so far.

I am glad that we have klango back also. I believe it will be here to stay. so as I said it's growing.
