misuse of espeak, espeak can't be legally used in this program.
hello.
espeak's licence is GPL v3 which means, you can't redistribute it with a program which isn't GPLv3
and, this isn't.
how you're gonna resolve this?

espeak was used in the old klango so...
it's illegal I think.
we should not base our judgements 100% on o i think.
it's better to check IMHO so they won't get wrecked
I don't think the ESpeak devs have the resources to actually go after people for misusing it.
that doesn't make it ok.
IMO, if you didn't pass the bar exam and have a license as a certified attorney, your word is moot.
once again, jaws uses it! windowise uses it. are they closed source? yes!
yeah then they probably break the license. but fine.
seriously what the hell is up with the morral police as of late? Making a hole ttopic for this just to be a karen about using easpeak, come on people.
I didn't meant it that way
In a way, you kind of did or you wouldn't have said anything
It blows my mind there are people out there who are blatently in favor of violating the GPL IMO.
i guess contact every non gpl system, that uses espeak and be the person that ruens intigrated speech on systems, os's and devices that have a fiew MB to even have speech including non gpl complient linux and unix based systems, hmm, go after the origional simplito, for having espeak in klango for 11 years! Go after every AI tts that uses espeak for phonemes and such well, you get the point.

I discovered something when working on my own klango-related project. eSpeak did not come with Klango at all. If you wanted eSpeak, you had to install the SAPI 5 version. But generally it's fine for non-GPL programs to use GPL code and libraries as long as it's linked a certain way and you make your modifications of that GPL code freely available. I believe eSpeak would have had to be dynamically linked. But if eSpeak-NG was statically linked, it would make Klango GPL by proxie.

Isn't that specifically the LGPL?
no I don't think so.
dam, yeah. your correct on that point. All i ment though is that many projects more than not, use espeak in non standard or complieant

People use Eloquence the same way and you don't see the devs of Eloquence making a fuss about it.

except elocrap is abandonware.
yes, but there are community dictionaries actively being worked on.
yep, but I mean this is why noone is being fussy if comes to the devs.
