Opinions About The Klango Revival

Hello everyone. You may (or may not) know/remember me, I am the person formerly known on here as djhc. Anyway, here are my opinions about this Klango revival. I personally find it very unexpected, given the server shut down in 2018. I know there is the spiritual successor, Elten, but honestly I think Klango is a much better client.

Now about the client itself (as of 3.5.4b7). This is a very interesting revision, given some added modern features, like Mastodon support, 64-bit SAPI 5 (32-bit should also be in there as well), and even integrated eSpeak NG and OpenEVV support (even though I don't use Eloquence/ViaVoice and I know there are some people who don't like eSpeak). Plus, I love how all the previous programs (like my favorite, Wikipedia browser), forum posts, and audio themes are still there, almost like Klango never left us (yes, I am the one who made the "Spring" audio theme back in 2009).

Now for some reflection. I have to say, this brings back so many memories, I remember first signing up for Klango back on January 1, 2009, in the v2 era. I got two extreme doses of nostalgia when launching this new revived Klango, first when hearing the "Klango!" start up sound, and then when hearing "Nothing new" when logging in with this account for the first time. Hopefully this revival really takes off! I am curious as to what you all think about this Klango revival.

I have never heard the klango logo before. It is interesting to say the least haha! I still wonder how I upload audio themes though, as I made a voiceover theme for klango when I had it for files and other things which which was on the original net, I still have klango 2 from jakes site on the win7 vm too, but that VO theme isn't complete yet, but when I do make it completely I will upload it somewhere and send it here.

This was unexpected and a blast of nostalgia. I came on this platform back in 2012, and met some pretty cool people on here. I threw around some game ideas and was a bit of a hyper teen when I was here. I was so full of ideas back then, my idea thread had like almost 300 posts. I was Raven72 and then Fridget. But even though I still like birds, those aliases are not something I use. But I'm happy to be back and hope to meet some new and old people. Also, to the original poster, your spring theeme is lovely to listen to. Thank you for making it.

Re: Opinions About The Klango Revival

to anyone wondering how the spring theme was made, from what I heard back in 2009, he used FLStudio to make the theme, and composed those sounds himself, and that was thee only theme he did, not to mention this was at the time when he had, uh, some? Vission? I may be wrong

On that note, Every music plugin nowadays (especially omnisphere) is inaccessible unless you have a native instruments keyboard. And unless you get those libraries manually with it.

Re: Opinions About The Klango Revival

Well, given that I have only installed this program yesterday I have come to love it. I can't stress this enough, I quite enjoy it. I've been looking at the archive and well, each time it made me think, what if I was also on here? At the time it was out, I got a comp around 2013 to 2014, around that range, I still have it to this day but it's running windows 8 and has admin promissions so I would have been able to download the program but not run it. So now, I'm happy to actuly get a chance to use it. Also, I have made a blog on here if anyone wants to see it, all comments are welcome. And I noticed there is a spam filter, I'm guessing the original klango had that? I'm not sure. But anyways, I'm done rambleing.

Re: Opinions About The Klango Revival

I just installed this program today. I think i should make an introduction of my self, even though i do not know if it is the write fred to do so. Hi. My name is Alfie, I am from the UK, and i like tech. I am friends with Mayowa, and also Alex. So far, i think that this program is really good, especially with how fast itis. I am also in Elten as well, but i am thinking of getting rid of that program, concidering that I got this program. sI hope to interact with this program more over the coming days and weeks.

Re: Opinions About The Klango Revival

I kept both around, its actually easy to make Elten programs now there's an MCP server, and plus this interface is a bit more clunky compared to Elten, but I like it lol.

Re: Opinions About The Klango Revival

oh wow elten has an mcp server? hmmmm

Re: Opinions About The Klango Revival

Yeah, but at least for me it's broken. It added it self to claude code but tool fetching fails.

Re: Opinions About The Klango Revival

Oh its not failed for me, I guess they updated it the other day to fix that, because I've been able to use it to work on an Elten Mastodon client.

Re: Opinions About The Klango Revival

When I first heard that Klango was back, I was very happy. I have not tried the Wikipedia browser yet so I'm not sure if that works. I am also happy about the Media Catalog, I get to enjoy that again!
I'm still keeping Elten around. Elten also now has a Media Catalog and it even has a Game Room that reminds me a lot of RSGames.
