what do you think about the new suno?

Hello.
So probably either today or tomorrow, all the current suno models will be retired and a new model will come which was trained with only data from warner music. Also downloads will be limmeted.
I am pretty seperated on this matter. It's good that only licensed data is used for training, but I don't know if theres any use for the artists if a label is handling it, sine music labels haven't been known to be exactly nice to artists. Also, that download limmet part is truely bs as people will just find ways arround it. But that's just my opinion. I'm interested in yours.

I personally don't mind. It's not like I make hundreds of songs a day or anything. Realistically, I like spending hours on one project rather than just putting something out there that ain't worth listening to. 20 downloads is good enough.

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

enshittification is real.

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

honestly? The download limit is just, meh. I don't mass download songs as much as I used to, nore do I use suno as much now, but, would be interesting to see how this new model sounds. And if it sounds bad... then, well... I don't know what else to use, udio is already heavily restricted, uploading audio files is a premium feature, downloads are disabled entirely and other things that I could go on. And from what I heard in elevenlabs music, it is so generic that it has the wrong chords as well as waaaaay to many artifacts and so on.

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

I think eleven music v2 is quite ok, how ever i hugely dislike it's UI. one really cool thing about it though is that it has an actuall usable api.
And yeah, the download limmet is really pointles. For free users it's the worst as these only get 7 dowloads with no refill whatsoever.

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

sadly everything is becoming restrictive now. i use suno and i used udio before it. i like suno because uploading audio is not as restricted as udio. but it sounds like things are going to become udiofied sadly

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

yeah I can tell. RIP to the AI extended ringtones I make rofl

8

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

hahahaha. rip to the covers i sometimes by sheer luck manage to make

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

When did this happen? I am rather p'oed about th eaccessibility of the iOS app. it is getting worse not better.

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

The IOs app never was quite usable for me. Android is ok though.

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

The best Suno models for me was 4.5 and 5.0
5.5 is too generous and it creating songs which sound similar also with limited number of vocals.
Sad that Suno will delete older models. Probably it's the time to cance
l suno subscription for me.

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

I only download my own dongs, not ones created by others. With this download limit, are we unable to download stuff?

13

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

Unfortunately, yes. The download limit will affect all downloads. Downloads of songs not created by you were restricted for a really long time, but now you also can download tracks that are from you. If you are free user you have seven downloads and they are never refilling. If you are pro user, you have, I think, 60. And if you are on the standard plan for $10, you have 20. I personally really doubt the efficiency of this download limit as people will find their ways around it. Of course, it's against the terms of service, but this never stop people.

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

I'm surprised the older models haven't been retired

15

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

and I reckon that the WMG models will be worser than the already licenced models because there is less things to train on, which means that it'll sound like your typical pop song.

16

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

Maybe they don't sound worse, but what will definitely happen is with style diversity you will go down. With the current Suno models, it's possible to enter really absurd styles like bluegrass, eight-bit metal, and to get something that sounds like it. This will be really hard to accomplish with a smaller training dataset.

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

I think we shouldn't have a download limit when it comes to our own music.

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

in regards to eleven music, they have a music catilog with music from independent creaters/artests, so things may sound off there. As for suno, I looked at the "v6 is coming!" video that they made, and, yeah, it kinda does sounds like pop TBH

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

Ok, the new suno are here. It is v6, v6wild(which is a version that apparently is a bit more experimental) and v6 mini which is the new free one. On first glance it sounds pretty ok, i tried some more experimental styles and it's not as extremely bad as i feared it to be.

mind sending me a preview?

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

I checked two models: V6 Pro and V6 Wild. Both suck.
First, they sound more AI-generated than the previous V5.
Sometimes they crash like the old V3, even with the same parameters where V5 worked properly and could sometimes be creative.
Rap is way too generic, and the flows aren't great. Yeah, they were never great, but they're even worse now.
Want to make Finnish humppa? Forget it. With just the genre in the prompt, it's basically impossible now.
People keep saying that if you want something great, you need to write a detailed prompt with instruments, mood, structure, and so on. But that's not why I pay for Suno. I pay for Suno to take a simple idea and turn it into something interesting, not so I can write a giant prompt describing half the song myself.
I've used it for years just for fun. Some idiotic or interesting idea pops into my head? Open Suno.com, paste the lyrics, write something like "(genre, subtype of genre)", set two sliders, and go.
Now it doesn't work the way I want it to, so fuck it.
Edit: One thing that's better than 5.5 is that the songs don't sound as similar to previously generated ones, so it's slightly more creative than 5.5. But anyway...
Edit 2: I fixed my post with ai because first version aren't readable. I'm just too frustrated lol.

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

honestly if I want to be creative I just adjust all 3 sliders and watch the magic happen, but as of april they depricated it for the free teer

23

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

Actually i don't mind writing long prompts, i get what you mean though. I am just happy because i was affraid it wouldn't generate some of the more niche genres like 8bit anymore but at least wild seams to be able to do so. What do you mean with crashing though? You mean that thing where it gets more and more noisy in the background?

24

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

yeah, I think he meant that yeah it has more artifacts. V3.5 in my experience also used to just do random 16th notes with a song with the guitar, and only clean guitar for some reason does it do it, and it increases and decreasing pitch of said notes for whatever reason, It would also randomly speed up and slow down too.

Anyways, yeah, gonna test how this sounds later on at some point.

Re: what do you think about the new suno?

ok guys, I tested it, and it is a hit or a miss, even when setting the variety sliders
